Variations (or modifiers) and variation groups

In this section, we show how variation groups are created and how variation groups are linked

A variation on a product allows different options to be added to a product.

Variations can be linked to one particular product but also to several products together, this is called a variation group.

Creating variation groups

An individual variation can be entered on the article sheet, a variation group is entered under products - variations.

It is recommended to work exclusively with variation groups because it makes the variations easier to edit and a variation group can also be linked to 1 individual item.

Entering an individual variation on an item sheet, is done in the same way as through the variation groups.

An overview of variation parameters:

1 name of the variation group:

This name defines the identity of the variation group and can help identify the group to link with products.

2 name of the variation:

within a variation group, different types of variations can be defined. This example suggests portion size and an additional sauce choice. The names entered here (size and sauces) will be seen online and in the checkout and kiosk. The name is modified via the slanted marker symbol.

3 type of variation

Certain options are mandatory and unique, then '1 option' is indicated. In this case, 1 option is always active and it is the first option that is entered that is suggested by default, in this case 'large portion'.

Other options are optional and several can be chosen. You determine this by checking "multiple choices.

When it is mandatory to choose a number of options different from 1, you can enter the minimum and maximum value here. This can be the case, for example, to allow you to choose different toppings for a pizza. For example, if there are 10 choices and the customer may choose 2,3 or 4, you enter minimum 2 and maximum 4.

4 option name

the text box fills in the name of the option. 'Add an option' creates a new text box (8).

Tip: Options can be sorted by clicking on the dots to the left of the option and moving the option.

5 price of the option

The price is added to the price of the product. It can be either positive, zero or negative. In the latter case, it is deducted from the product price. This can be the case when a component of the product is omitted.

6 translations

Translations are inserted through this "globe".

7 color

The color given to the option on the kitchen screen can be customized.

9 add variation

Within a variation group, multiple variations can be added via this button.

10 saving

creation and modification of data must always be confirmed.

Linking variation groups

A variation group can be associated with 1 or more products:

  1. selection category
  2. select the bulk button for all products (or dot the individual products if they are not all linked)
  3. select 'more actions
  4. select variation groups

Finally, the group is chosen and confirmed after which the products are linked to the variations.

If you wish to add multiple variation groups per product, the order in which you click on the groups determines the position of the variations in the checkout and online.
