An important setting that requires attention is the printer setting.
The following points are important:
- Unipos Plus only works via network connection, so no USB connections can be set up.
- The IPad or checkout running Unipos plus and the printers must be connected to the same network.
- Some printers can be connected to a Wi-Fi network but it is recommended to connect the printers via LAN cabling.
- Compatible printers are: Epson TM M30, Star TSP100, mC-print3 and mC-print2. This list will be extended later.
Possible causes causing print jobs not to be executed:
- The printer is switched off.
- The printer paper has run out.
- The printer and IPad or checkout are not connected to the same network.
- The printer's IP address has changed. With most printers, the IP address is printed some time after start-up. Switching off and restarting the printer will then suffice to check the IP address.
- When a link is set up again after an interruption, it is possible that a print job is blocked and needs to be deleted or reprinted first. This can be done this way.
Setting up printer connections:
There are a few steps explained here:
- Defining printers on the administration page
- Create ticket templates
- Linking templates
- Optional: Link products and categories to printers
Defining printers:
The first step to set up a printer connection is to create the printer on the management page:
Through settings - Printer - Add printer, printers can be defined:
- Printer name is entered
- Choice of printer type: Only LAN printers can be used in Unipos Plus
- Here you have to choose if the printer should be controlled by the cash register or by the kitchen screen.
- The IP address of the printer must be filled in.
- The port is proposed and nothing is changed. In exceptional circumstances it may be necessary to change the output port.
- The direction of the print pressure can be changed here.
- If a cash drawer is linked to the printer, please check this.
- With this button you can have the tickets clipped or not.
- A next printer is added via this button.
- Confirm the settings via 'save'.
This allows several printers to be linked:
Creating templates:
Through settings - Print templates - create new template, the layout of the tickets is determined. Then the ticket name and type can be determined:
- The name of the ticket is entered here.
- There are 2 types of printouts: a ticket printed when a payment is registered and a work order printed when an order is sent. The tickets always state the prices of the item, the work orders do not because they are usually used for production.
Then the configuration pop-up appears:
- Choice between a ticket and a work order
- Configuration function: allows the design of the ticket to be determined. The information can be printed or not (button on - off), the size can be adjusted (by clicking on the information line itself, a size appears that can be adjusted) and also the location can be changed (via dragging the left cubes up or down). An example of these operations can be seen on this video: youtube example of template configuration
- The preview window immediately shows the impact of the changes made via the configuration function.
Linking templates to a printer:
The next step is to link the template to a printer. In other words, which receipt will be printed on which printer:
- The overview lists the different templates.
- One or more printers are linked via 'link printer'.
- The number of tickets to be printed can be determined per printer.
- An additional template can be created.
- Always confirm the settings with 'Save
Linking products to a printer:
A useful feature for work orders is linking products to a particular printer. For example, it can be determined that the work order for drinks will be printed in the bar and the work order for dishes in the kitchen.
This can be set on a product-by-product basis on the product sheet: see Creating and customising products
It can also be done by selecting Products and then linking the products together to the printer.
Tip: by default, all products are linked to all printers. If a product should not appear on a particular printer, uncheck it and finish with 'confirm'.
